Connecting Android Auto to Your Volkswagen
Volkswagen owners are enjoying the benefits of the new MIB II infotainment system. Their 2016 Golf Family, GTI, Jetta, Passat, Beetle and Tiguan are now equipped the latest in connected vehicle technologies. They can now connect using one of three services based on their smartphones
We get a lot of customers asking whether their own Android phones can be used with our new infotainment system. Absolutely! They will be able to use Android Auto to connect with their Volkswagen to optimum application use through the MIB II infotainment system.
What should customers expect when they connect their Android devices with their Volkswagen?
A CLEANER INTERFACE: Android Auto uses a proprietary front page divided depending on which function have been enabled to be used with the infotainment system. For music, Pandora is among one of those apps that can be used. Music information and album art can be seen either through the main screen or the music screen. Android’s Music app is also available for playback for both on phone and streaming music files. It is also easy to use the phone, messaging and mapping functions
GOOGLE MAPS OR OUR NAVIGATION SYSTEM: When Android Auto is enabled, Google Maps becomes the car’s navigation system. It could read destinations already programmed onto your phone, through the Google Maps website, or create new ones. If the car is equipped with the Volkswagen navigation system, that choice is available by disabling Android Auto. Either way, the route will be same to get to the beach or the mountains.
OTHER APPS: Android Auto can also pick up other compatible apps to use with the Volkswagen MIB II system. For example, MLB atBat Premium app users can stream their play-by-play calls through their vehicle. Though, we know that Dodger fans can disable Android Auto to hear Vin Scully live all of the time on our radio.
