Atlas Safety Wins High Marks from NHTSA and IIHS
At Volkswagen, safety is on the top of our priorities to our customers. Every year, Volkswagen cars and SUVs earned their stars through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration through engineered passive and active safety features designed to save lives.
The NHTSA already awarded their top rating – five stars – to the heart of our lineup. Five-Star award winners include the Beetle, Golf, Golf Alltrack, Golf GTI, Golf R, Golf SportWagen, Jetta, Jetta GLI and Passat.
Add one more Volkswagen to this list: The Atlas.
The NHTSA crash tested the Atlas to award it their highest rating overall. They found it safer than its rivals through conducting front, side, and rollover tests to examine crashworthiness and occupant safety.
Plus, the Atlas received the Top Safety Pick designation from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety. The IIHS tested for crashworthiness in similar tests, along with testing any active safety features on the vehicle. Volkswagen has several models that also received high marks from the IIHS.
All of these Volkswagen models won their crash tests because of features, such as Front Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert, Lane Assist, Park Assist, Light Assist and Area View. The Atlas adds the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System – the first in its class to offer this feature.
