The Volkswagen Jetta for 2017

As the most popular vehicle in the Volkswagen lineup, the Jetta continues to offer more value for the money in its class. It also offers the best in German engineering and comfort that makes it stand out above the rest. For 2017, only a few changes were made to add even more value for the money. Here is a rundown of these changes.

The 2017 Jetta lineup is now simplified with the S, SE, SEL and GLI. The base S has the 1.4 liter TSI turbocharged engine standard, offering 150 horsepower on tap. Standard features include 16-inch steel wheels, a rearview camera, LED daytime running lights and two-tone cloth seating. S customers can now opt for a set of 16-inch aluminum wheels instead of the standard wheels.

Upgrading to the SE model adds even more features standard than before. Chiefly, the SE now gets Car-Net App-Connect, enabling the use of Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror Link through the touchscreen system.  In addition, the SE model now have a sunroof, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter knob, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert, 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, KESSY Keyless access and push-button start, and V-Tex leatherette seats with rear pass-through functionality. All of these features are now standard on the Jetta SE.

Stepping up to the SEL means getting the best of everything in a Jetta. The 2017 SEL now includes the 170 horsepower 1.8 liter TSI turbocharged engine standard, along with power driver’s seat, exterior chrome accents, Climatronic automatic dual-zone climate control, a navigation system, rain-sensing wipers, front foglights, Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking, and Adaptive Cruise Control.

Finally, there is the hottest sedan in its class – the GLI. Customers can now only choose GLI and it comes with plenty standard. The engine has not changed – the 210 horsepower 2.0 liter TSI turbocharged four-cylinder. However, the GLI comes with standard 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, a navigation system, power driver’s seat, LED taillights, Park Distance Control, the Fender Premium Audio System, and Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert.

Pricing for the 2017 Jetta starts at $17,895 for the S model.
